January 28, 2025
HARRISBURG – Memorial Park in Chambersburg will get an exciting upgrade with the addition of a new sensory learning pathway, according to Rep. Rob Kauffman (R-Franklin), who supported funding for the project under the Greenways, Trails and Recreation Program.
“State funding in the amount of $49,000 will enable this important project to be completed,” said Kauffman. “Our public parks and recreational areas need to be accessible to all and this new pathway will ensure those will disabilities have access to fun, engaging activities at the park.”
The funding will be used to purchase and install sensory learning panels and
music chimes, and repaving and widening of a pathway at Memorial Park. The
proposed project will aid the borough of Chambersburg by creating a park that is inclusive of
individuals with disabilities, through ensuring adequate play opportunities via playground
equipment and wheelchair accessibility.
